September talk: Alpine Plants at Sea Level in Newfoundland by Mary Ellen Asmundson

THURSDAY, September 12

Meeting at the Bellevue Botanical Garden

I hope that you all are having a great summer! It's been several years since we've had such a temperature summer here and I don't have any complaints at all! We used to have this kind of weather, but with the hot at smokey summers of the last several years, I had forgotten how nice it is in Seattle in the summer!

Our first speaker this season is our longtime chapter member Mary Ellen Asmundson who attended the NARGS national meeting last year with her husband John Brew. Here is a brief description of her talk.

In July 2018 Mary Ellen and her husband, John Brew, attended the NARGS National Meeting held at Memorial University in St. Johns, Newfoundland. They also spent two weeks in Newfoundland exploring the unique flora of the island. They photographed plants in diverse habitats, wetlands, limestone barrens, forests, and coastlines across the province. In addition to plants Mary Ellen has also included interesting tidbits about the island fishing culture, the sights, and information about America’s oldest city, St. Johns.

Join us at the Bellevue Botanical Garden at 7:00 pm for social time, 7:30 pm for the meeting and program. Our meetings are free and open to the public.

See you all soon!
